Śaiva Siddhānta: In dialogue with Dominic Goodall and T. Ganesan

Professor M.D.Muthukumaraswamy in conversation with Dr Dominic Goodall (Head, Pondicherry Centre, École française d'Extrême-Orient (French School of Asian Studies), and T.Ganesan (Research Director in Śaiva Āgama & Śaiva Siddhānta, Head of the Department of Indology French Institute of Pondicherry), world-renowned authorities on Śaiva Siddhānta, explain the extent of manuscript resources available in Tamil and Sanskrit and how the recent scholarship has come to describe the early history of Śaiva Siddhānta. The conversation moves on to discuss how Śaiva Siddhānta grew from a philosophical theology of individual liberation to Śaiva Bhakti a social movement which influenced a range of social aspects from everyday life to temple constructions, rituals, and festivities. The interview took place at the French Institute of Pondicherry on March 20, 2018.
